Moving SQL Database

I have a question about moving a SQL database to a new server. Right now I
have an existing SQL 2000 database on a server that will be decommissioned
and am putting in a new server to take its palace. My question is how hard is
it to move the data from the existing server to the new one once SQL is
installed. Is it just a matter of backing up and restoring the database? or
exporting and importing? I obviously dont work with SQL but this is something
I will have to do. Any document links or any help would be great!!
