Moving SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005 - Need suggestions onsyncronization of data betw

Hi,
Our current production database server is SQL Server 2000 and it is
running on Windows 2000 server.
Now as part of the upgrade we bouht a new machine and installed
Windows 2003 Server and SQL Server 2005 on it.
Now our idea is to move the databases from the current production to
the new SQL Server 2005. 1).How do we do that? Is it just do a
restore
of the most recent back up of a particular database on the new new
SQL
Server 2005?
2).Also we are thinking to syncronize the data between the current
production server and the new SQL Server 2005. So that at one point
it
thins are ok then we could point the web app to the new SQL Server
2005 which is currently pointing to the current production SQL
Server .
In other words how do make transition from the current SQL Server
2000
to our new SQL Server 2005?
Can any body suggest me a starting point on this on how do we do
this?

1) Run SQL Server Upgrade Advisor on your database and follow its
recommendations
2) Check the BOL section 'Upgrading to SQL Server 2005'
4) Take a look at this and see which sections apply to your case

3) Restore a copy of your database in SQL Server 2005 and start testing your
application

Kelly - I just wanted a quick start on this issue so I posted in two
different locations of SQL Server. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
By the way I din't know that we could post in one location and have it
appeared in multiple related groups. How do we do that?

Yup a lot of people don't realize it so that is why I posted the message. If
you are using OE just click on the NewsGroups Icon at the top of the message
and you can choose additional groups. Then replies go to all at once.

web I don't know what it looks like. In OE the top of the page looks similar
to this:

]

Subject:

]
But the bottom line is that you can add more or different newsgroups to the
Newsgroups section seperated by a comma to post to all of them at once.

microsoft.public.sqlserver.programming ]
