Moving physical disks with database inside?

Hi,
I have an old Datawarehouse server with 8 disks
in these disks I have a Raid 5 setup for my datawarehouse based on 4 disks.
I want to move these 4 drives to a new server (better processors).
My 2 servers are Dell based with Win 2003 ent. edition + SQL server 2000
ent. edition.
Can I do the move?
What I have to double check before?
Thanks.
Jerome.Hello Jerome,
Each manufacturer has his own way of writing into the RAID drives, ie, IBM
servers RAID5 drives cannot be moved
into a HP server ... etc. Infact, the manufacturer himself might comeout
with newer and efficient ways of writing into the
diskdrives (Happened to us once with the HP servers). Lot depends on the
RAID controller cards that you r using in
the two servers.
Check with the vendor of the servers andf find out if the Old RAID drives
are upward compatible with the new machine with
the New controlller cards.
From my experience once when the hardware recognises these drives, OS shud
have no problem in recognizing them
as well
