Moving SQL Database

I have a question about moving a SQL database to a new server. Right now I
have an existing SQL 2000 database on a server that will be decommissioned
and am putting in a new server to take its palace. My question is how hard i
s
it to move the data from the existing server to the new one once SQL is
installed. Is it just a matter of backing up and restoring the database? or
exporting and importing? I obviously dont work with SQL but this is somethin
